Bio:

Julie Tomlinson moved to New York in 2002 and began assisting top makeup artists like Pat McGrath and Dick Page, working fashion week in New York and Paris. Learning from the best, Julie has established herself as a makeup artist par excellence, with a reputation among, clients, peers, and employers for professionalism and an incomparable eye for detail. She’s traveled to Austria, Barbados, Brazil, and Cyprus to contribute to editorials for Italian Elle, Spanish Bazaar, D Magazine, and many more. She’s collaborated with many great photographers like Richard Burbridge, Alex Cayley, and Stefania Paparelli to name a few.

Born and raised in Northern California, Julie is often described as “down to earth” and her unpretentious approach belies a masterful artistry and perfectionism in her craft. She was first drawn to the beautiful and vibrant colors of her mom’s cases of eye shadow at an early age, and it wasn’t long before she was experimenting with makeup whenever she could. Using herself as a model, she would attempt to recreate looks out of magazines or create new textures by mixing various products.

At her first job with MAC Cosmetics in San Francisco she developed her skills and confidence, and furthered her technique in the basic principles of makeup artistry. Offered a prestigious position in 2000 with the San Francisco Opera, Julie instead pursued the more creatively satisfying and challenging path of a freelance career in Los Angeles. In L.A. Julie's skills were applied to music videos and commercials with the kind of variety of experience inspiring to any adventurous spirit.

She has a versatile approach to makeup and has a naturally clean aesthetic when it comes to her application. She still continues to explore new ways to apply and use product and approaches her work with the same sense of wonderment that first drew her to makeup as a child.
